In this episode of Beyond the Business Suit I'm interviewing Patrice Ford Lyn. She is an Executive Life Coach and leads Catapult Life Coaching and Consulting. She is truly one of the best people I know in terms of lovingly helping people get back into alignment with themselves. I am honored that she will be one of the Executive Coaches joining us at the Beyond the Business Suit Retreat taking place April 17-19 in Scottsdale, AZ. Patrice's Bio
Patrice Ford Lyn transforms her clients’ understanding of what’s possible. By empowering them to free themselves of mediocrity and dissatisfaction, she supports them in stepping into their greatness.
Her clients are CEOs, executives, entrepreneurs, and other coaches. With a depth of experience and passion for helping people thrive, she facilitates her clients’ journeys to transformational outcomes.
Since receiving an undergraduate degree in sociology from Yale University and a graduate degree in nonprofit management from the Kennedy School at Harvard University, she has guided the startup of three national-level organizations. For decades, she has worked with leaders in national corporations, nonprofits, federal agencies, and international development multilaterals to build their organizations while supporting them through their own personal growth. As such, she is a thought partner on both personal and organizational challenges.
Whether it is working with a leadership team or coaching an individual, Patrice thrives at facilitating strategic conversations that lead clients to important insights, needed interventions and meaningful action.
Quotables
“When we are in alignment, the things that show up for us, show up for us and we see them for what they are. When we are out of alignment, we're fuzzy.”
“When you let people shine in their zone of genius, it's better for the organization and it's better for them.”
The Final Five
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? At first I wanted to be an educator…but I didn't have the vision or the imagination of what that could be. Then in college, I read Savage Inequalities and thought I could help others be their best lives in a way that doesn't look like formal education.
What are some of the things you do to take care of yourself? I'm a big fan of sleep. Resetting my body allows me to settle. I'm also very intentional about being in nature, especially by the ocean.
What is one book that has changed your life? A Course in Miracles
If you could have lunch with three people, who would you pick? A part of me wants to say all of the prophets. I would love to sit down with Jesus…with Buddha…and just to make it a little more practical, I would love to sit down with Mandela.
What do you put on to feel most powerful? I feel most beautiful in a tank top and cut offs, barefoot at the beach. I also love garments that are flowing. When I was in corporate America, I have on a fly tailored suit with some heels. That is another sense of power.
