Over the past couple of months, India has been one of hardest hit places with COVID-19 and though conditions seem to be improving on the right trend, the country is still experiencing over 100,000 new cases per day, as of this post. I recently had a conversation on Beyond the Business Suit Live on LinkedIn with my friend Sujatha Alluri, who shared some things we all can do to support our teams, friends and colleagues during this time. And her advice even transcends this situation as so often we may hear of devastating things going on and feel paralyzed by what we can do. She is a living example of how we all have the capacity to impact the world.
During the conversation, Sujatha mentioned the US V-Care Campaign, which had not launched yet, but now it has. Please see learn more and see how you can support.
The objective of the US V-Care Campaign is to raise $50,000 to drive vaccination rollout by incentivizing through distribution of 2 weeks of food supplies, hygiene kits and education material. Funding of hygiene kits and education material has been taken care of locally, and vaccinations are free. However there is immediate need to help procure 2 weeks of food supplies, which costs less than $15 for a family of 4. This will allow families to stay indoors and be better prepared to safeguard themselves, in addition to help overcome vaccination hesitancy.

About the funding platform and partnering organization:
Milaap.org is a India based platform (very similar to GoFundMe), and has been chosen for the ability to quickly dispense funds. Milaap has waived all the fees for India Covid Relief efforts, so 100% of your donation will go directly for intended purposes.
XLRI Alumni group has been identified to be a partnering organization to channel the funds for vendor payments. XLRI is a leading and reputed management institute in India, and has closer ties to the grassroots initiative to drive vaccination rollout. They are waiving off all fees as well, so the funds are fully utilized. Project updates will be provided frequently on the fundraising site.
Please note that because XLRI Alumni is an FCRA licensed India based organization, only payments from India will have tax benefits. Due to the long period of time and fees involved with raising money on US platforms and transferring to FCRA licensed organizations in India, this was the best option available.
