QUOTABLES:
“Set your intention, and go for it completely.”
“Get well, and stay well.”
“If we’re going to keep climbing, we have to armour up. It means wellness.”
“Having a girl tribe that can lift you up is critical.”
“For you [allies] to have some sort of power within an organization, and you’re willing to cash those chips in for a minority, is brave.”
THE FINAL FIVE
- What was your first job? It was a modeling gig. I’m an only child and spent summers with my grandmother and she enrolled me in a modeling agency.
- What are some of the things you do to recharge your energy? I love, love, love, a large jet tub in our basement. That’s my favorite place because that’s my room. It’s off limits to the kids.
- If you could have brunch with 3 people, dead or alive, who would you pick (omitting Oprah and Michelle Obama)? The first person is my favorite musical artist Prince. I only got to see him in concert one time and it was magical. Another person is John Maxwell. He was the first person of notoriety that exemplified Christian principles in the workplace. It’s going to have to be Belle Hooks. When there was so much turmoil going on with the social unrest, me feeling like I wanted to do something, Belle Hooks says people resist when they tell their stories.
- We are all weird in certain ways, what is something that makes you weird? It’s unusual, I’m particular about the type of seafood and meals I like that’s kind of exotic. I will build my own favorite meal. It would take me 1.5 to get this meal from different places.
- What is some of the best advice you’ve ever received? My parents, even though they weren’t together, would write little inspirational notes to me and always say, “keep God first.” That’s what I remember when I was at my lowest point.
